Alejandro Alex Z RodriguezAlejandro (Alex) Z. Rodriguez passed away peacefully on January 13, 2013 at Redlands Community Hospital, Redlands, CA. He was born in Colton, CA on September 5, 1928 to Felix and Elena Rodriguez, and remained a resident of Colton for most of his life.

He was employed by the California Portland Cement Company as a crane-operator for 44 years, retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. Airborne and Ranger qualified, Alejandro was stationed with the Fourth Infantry Division in Germany. An avid sportsman, he boxed for his Battalion during his tour of duty.

Alejandro married Dora M. Diaz on March 1, 1954, and they spent 44 wonderful years together. They had five children: Felix (Lynden), Charles, Geraldine, Ronald (Lisa), and Carl (Stephanie); eight grandchildren: Lauren, Joseph, Gregory, Nina, Adrianna, Carolyn, Matthew, and Meredith; and one great grandchild, Joslynn.

Alejandro was preceded in death by his wife in 1997. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Alejandro was well liked and respected by all who knew him. He was a tireless, hard working man who would go out of his way to help those in need. He loved people, sports and music. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Colton for 53 years.

The viewing will be on January 24, 2013, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by a rosary from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm, and mass begins at noon at the Immaculate Conception Church, 1090 N. La Cadena Drive, Colton, CA. Interment to follow at Olivewood Memorial Park, 3300 Central Avenue, Riverside, CA. Burial will be handled by Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA.
